Who is Padre?
A rider like you.
That's right, or maybe not. I may not have been biking as long as most of you but I
enjoy it just as much. My wife (Diane) and I just started biking around home about 8
years ago on some yard sale bikes. We enjoyed it so much that we bought new bikes
and started doing the Katy Trail Rides in Missouri. It wasn't long before we upgraded
bikes again. We were surprised to find as many people that were our age (you guess
that) and had the same interest as us. Best of all, everyone we met was nice.
However, the story doesn't start there. I spent 7 years working on the
St Louis County Police SWAT Team with the one and only Bubba
(Bubbas Pampered Pedalers) who, after setting up his own tent countless times
on his cross country bike solo, originated the bicycle event tent services.
Of course I worked in other areas also, such as, the precinct, the detective bureau,
and the Robbery/Homicide unit. I left the department after vesting my retirement to
start my own sporting goods business, while Bubba went on to retire there after 27
years of service.
That brings us up to today. Two years ago I met up with Bubba again at a SWAT
Team Reunion and found out about this new service he had founded. Since we both
had the same interest, Bubba offered to teach me the ropes, and as the saying goes,
the rest is history. So here I am.

The Staff
Diane
By day she's a mild mannered bank administrator. But the rest of the time she is the
driving force behind Padre. (and the only one who would ever put up with me for 37
yrs.) Yes she is my wife.
It's even hard for me to believe. But she has done it. She is one of those people that
some people just love to hate because she loves life. She is always smiling and
laughing and very positive. What would I do without her?
If you don't enjoy life or can't stand someone who always seems to be having fun
then you won't be able to stand Diane. If on the other hand you enjoy someone who
is always positive, and always thinking of someone besides herself. Someone who is
always looking for new ways to please others. Someone who will go out of her way to
make your stay more enjoyable and comfortable, then you are going to love Diane. I
do!
Craig and Janelle
Yes they really are two different people although you hardly ever see one without the
other. They are definitely two of the best staff members anyone could ask for. They
have worked several events and are a pleasure to be around and have on staff.
They really enjoy seeing to it that you have a wonderful experience staying with us.
Craig also serves as supervisor of the tent crew and is Padre's right hand.
Gopher
You figure that name out. Of course it won't be hard. The first time you need
something and ask him, he will GO FOR it. He is another one of those people that I
can truly say are a blessing to me and who helps my job easier. He is also an
experienced sherpa who will help your stay be more care free and comfortable.
Everyone Else
Throughout the year I endeavor to have the best staff available for that geographic
area. Not just someone looking for a job but people who like serving others. All of the
staff are there to help make sure that your stay is as good as it can be. I hope they
meet your expectations.
If you see areas where they need improvement let me know. If on the other hand they
are doing it all right please let them know.
